The Team

Rob Deane

Rob is the Executive Director at the Baltimore County Sailing Center. As a former senior executive in the financial services and investment management industry, he has combined his business acumen with his passion for sailing and the water.

Rob came to a small nonprofit community sailing center three years ago. He evaluated the current business, defined the vision, built the strategy, and executed the plan. In that time, the fleet has been replaced by newer, more appropriate equipment, the outreach programs have grown from 10 participants to hundreds. Overall participation has grown from a few hundred to over 4000. New partnerships and programs are coming online each month, but more importantly, participant engagement has gone deeper, individual sailors are seeing dramatic performance improvement, and the satisfaction level is at an all-time high.

By applying proper business practices, the center has enjoyed 85% revenue growth, allowing all of the above to be funded by operating income, not capital investment. If you are interested in seeing your program get to the next level contact us!

Nicole Sikowitz

Nicole is the Assistant Director at the Baltimore County Sailing Center. Nicole's background is in marine biology and environmental science. She has spent years in teaching, mentoring and coaching.

Nicole joined the small nonprofit community sailing center two years ago. She identified problems with the business, learned new skills on the job, and learned how to run a non-profit. This was all sparked by her deep passion for teaching, science and sailing.

She is most proud of creating a better relationship between the participants, families and staff;  creating happy returning customs and more word of mouth marketing. She is also extremely proud of the overall increased presence in the industry, gaining the non-profit major funding and grants.
